Bandi is first and foremost the story of two cousins, Thomas Crucifix and Olivier Collette, brought together by a shared passion for design. In 2015, Thomas was looking for a bench for his garden, but couldn’t find anything suitable on the market. So, with Olivier, an architect by training, they decided to design it themselves. The prototype immediately appealed. The idea quickly became obvious: why not turn it into a real project?
Neither comes from a furniture background – one works in finance, the other in the family business – but their complementary skills become a strength. In 2016, Bandi was officially launched.
From the outset, a clear choice: 100% local manufacturing in Wallonia. Aluminum, artisanal know-how, short-run production… Everything is designed to prove that top-of-the-range furniture can be produced here, without compromising on quality or price.
Bandi relies on a circuit from producer to end customer, avoiding traditional store distribution in order to keep prices affordable while remunerating craftsmen fairly. This choice, which goes against the grain, enables the brand to offer products up to 30% less expensive than their high-end competitors (such as Tribù, Manutti, Extremis...).
The pandemic reshuffles the deck. The need for comfort at home, combined with a report broadcast on La Maison France 5 during the first confinement, propelled the brand to the forefront. Sales explode. Sales doubled. In just a few months, Bandi became a benchmark for Belgian outdoor furniture, with continued growth in France, Switzerland and beyond.
After the success of the table and benches (products from 210 to 350 cm), new products join the range:
The Bandi sofa and coffee table (2022): an intelligent response to the constraints of outdoor living. The cushions and backrests fit neatly into the aluminum frame, forming an elegant monolith.
Based in Awans, with several hundred pieces produced each year, Bandi is a committed brand that continues to grow without giving in to the ease of mass industrialization. Each piece is hand-welded, solvent-free powder-coated and designed to withstand the seasons - and the years.
The ambition is clear: to become the benchmark brand for 100% Belgian designer outdoor furniture, capable of being exported, while remaining true to its values: local, sustainable, beautiful and solid.
