Yay! BBQs don’t just mean summer evenings, cold beers and sunny playlists. It can be just as convivial thanks to a brazier and mulled mulled wine ! Discover how to a successful winter barbecue that will leave no one cold!
1. Getting your Brasero barbecue
Your mission number 1 as host of the evening: make sure your guests are warm! (Besides, we prefer duck breast on the grill ;-))
The ideal solution? A brazier barbecue! What’s a brazier? It’s an open-fire brazier that can be used as both a patio heater and a barbecue. So you can grill while enjoying the gentle warmth of the flames. Clever, isn’t it?

2. Preparing dishes that heat up
For starters: an invigorating soup
In winter, replace raw vegetables with a bowl of soup! Lentils, carrots, butternut or leeks: take your pick! Serve it early in the evening, so your guests can warm their hands and feast their taste buds. Mhhhh!
For grilling: marinated meat and seasonal vegetables
When it comes to feasting, it’s all about good meat! Pork ribs with honey, chicken thighs with cider and spices or caramelized bacon. And don’t forget the vegetables: melt-in-your-mouth leeks, grilled mushrooms, crunchy chicory – you’re in for a treat! Serve your napkin, pick up your plate, and let’s get cooking!
Cheese on the barbecue
The dream of a barbecue-raclette! Grilled meat and melted cheese, what better way to warm hearts? Of course, there’s the famous hot camembert on the BBQ, but you can also try halloumi, smoked cheese, chèvre or even reblochon.
Winter desserts
Of course, we haven’t forgotten dessert:
- baked apples wrapped in aluminum foil and barbecued;
- a pear tart or crumble ;
- hot chestnuts (just put them on the brazier for 20 minutes);
- red fruit tiramisu.
Toasted marshmallows
After dessert, it’s time for a campfire! All you have to do is grab some picks and marshmallows and toast them on your brazier-barbecue. A moment around the fire with mates and marshmallows, how touching is that!
3. Don't forget the drinks
“Chef, how about a drink? We’re thirsty! But what drinks should you choose for a winter BBQ? Beer first! For the season, we prefer Christmas beers, like a Dobbel Palm, a Goliath Winter or a Christmas Bush.
You can also serve spiced mulled wine in goblets, with a cinnamon stick or orange slice. When the mercury drops, there’s no better feeling than clutching a glass of mulled wine in your hands and feeling its sweet aroma tickle your nostrils!
Serve hot apple tea too. You can even make it yourself! It couldn’t be easier: collect organic apple peels and dry them near a source of heat. Then infuse them in hot water and add a little sugar. Delicious!
4. Create a cosy atmosphere for your winter barbecue
Let’s talk about garden decoration! A winter BBQ is the perfect opportunity to create a cosy atmosphere in the garden. The first step is to plan a large table and long benches so that all guests can sit comfortably. If you want sturdy, long-lasting furniture that can withstand the cold, we recommend aluminum garden furniture.
Add warm, cozy plaids to the benches. Between that and the fire, your guests won’t get cold! And don’t forget that in winter, the sun sets early. So you’ll need to think about lighting. Lanterns and torches are a must!

5. Provide shelter in bad weather
We don’t want to jinx your plans. But if you’re having a barbecue between November and February, it might start raining or bells might start ringing. If you haven’t set up a shelter, your evening will be ruined… So make sure you use an arbour or a party tent to keep everyone dry.
If you’re not thrilled about the cold, at least you’ll certainly be having your first mosquito-free barbecue.
6. Watch out for the wind (yes, it's winter)
While we’re on the subject of weather, be careful of the wind. Keep your barbecue away from flammable materials such as plastic. Secondly, wind can slow down the cooking process.
To avoid this, we warmly recommend the Bandi barbecue-brasero. Its semi-enclosed structure protects food from the cold wind, and shields you from the flames. In any case, Santa Claus and Saint-Nicolas approved. !
7. Have fun!
Organizing a winter BBQ is all about having a great time. With beer, good grub and your mates in parka, it’s sure to be a great evening!
So, are you ready to ward off the cold? Adopt the Bandi barbecue-brasero and cook the kebabs (and spin the napkins)!
